It started in late March. Six volunteers, a borrowed pickup, and a list of seventeen pickups across the Brazos Valley. By July we had moved 8,400 pounds of usable goods out of garages headed for the landfill and into the hands of people who needed them.

What worked

Booking pickups through the platform meant volunteers could see the whole route the day before. Donors got automatic confirmations. A simple thing, but every time we tried to coordinate by text last year, something fell through.

What is next

Two more host communities are opening their gates this fall — we will write about them as they come online. If you have something to give or want to ride along, the volunteer page has the rest.
