Grants for Co-ops & Collectives

The Shared World Project re-grants funds to small organizations doing aligned work in their own communities.

What we fund

Small grants (typically $1,000 to $25,000) to cooperatives and collectives running mission-aligned projects in any of our seven program areas: eco-building, sustainable energy, regenerative agriculture, community gardens, education and training, volunteer infrastructure, and material recovery.

Who is eligible

  • U.S.-based cooperatives, collectives, or community-based 501(c)(3) / 508(c)(1)(a) organizations.
  • Operating budgets under $500,000 / year.
  • Project must be operational within 12 months of award.
  • Project must align with at least one SWP program area.

Current cycle

Our first grant cycle opens once initial fundraising goals are met. We will publish the open date here. Until then, you can register your interest and we'll notify you as soon as applications open.

How to apply (when open)

  1. Read the full eligibility and program guidelines (will be posted here).
  2. Complete the online application form. Expect to provide: organization summary, project description, budget, timeline, and outcomes you'll measure.
  3. Optional letters of support from community partners.
  4. Submit by the cycle deadline.

What we will not fund

  • Operating reserves with no project tied to them.
  • Lobbying or political campaign activity.
  • Religious instruction or proselytization (community spaces operated by faith communities are eligible if the program is open to all).
  • Projects that have already completed.
